Disc A Disc B Disc C

Disc A · Nov 24-28 2002

Second recorder; first disc of tape V23. Thanksgiving week 2002, Chicago — a channel-surfing tape with every commercial break paused out. It opens on CBS 2 Chicago's 10 PM sports (Sunday, November 24: the Bears beat the Lions 20-17 in overtime at Champaign, ending an eight-game losing streak), then MTV's The Osbournes (Tuesday, November 26, 9:30 PM — Ozzy at the White House Correspondents' dinner and the MTV Movie Awards), ABC 7 Chicago news on the reopening of Wacker Drive, a February 1997 Saturday Night Live rerun on Comedy Central (Nightline parody, the O.J. telethon, Weekend Update with Norm Macdonald), CBS 2's Late Show with David Letterman Thanksgiving show (Dave's mom live from Indianapolis, a Top Ten read by Navy sailors), ESPN highlights of the Bears' overtime win, the Travel Channel's 'Hidden Wealth of Palm Beach', HGTV's This Old House Classics, and an August 1989 Late Night with David Letterman rerun on Trio. The disc ends mid-Late Night.

No uploads: the only non-show material is a partial MTV interstitial, a Comedy Central bumper and a South Park promo fragment, all under 3 seconds.

Disc B · Nov 2002 / Dec 24 2002

Second recorder; second disc of tape V23. Picks up mid Trio's 'Thanks to Dave' marathon over Thanksgiving weekend 2002 — the end of a 1989 Late Night with David Letterman rerun, then the February 9, 1984 episode (Larry 'Bud' Melman's island empire cold open; guests Steve Martin and Stewart Copeland), Trio's music-video filler (Wiseguys 'Start the Commotion', Robbie Williams and Nicole Kidman 'Somethin' Stupid') and a 1988 episode (Billy Crystal plugging Memories of Me). Trio's breaks are intact. At 1:31:12 the tape jumps to Christmas Eve 2002: 'A Special Christmas Greeting from WGN Television' — Hardrock, Coco and Joe, Suzy Snowflake and Frosty — then CNN's NewsNight with Aaron Brown holiday edition (Manzanar, Bono with Paul O'Neill, West Coast Choppers). The disc ends mid-NewsNight.
