Donated by Trent Von Holten; first disc of tape TVH4. The 66th Annual Academy Awards, Monday, March 21, 1994, honouring the films of 1993, recorded off ABC 7 Chicago (WLS) — Whoopi Goldberg hosting, Gilbert Cates producing, tributes to Deborah Kerr (by Richard Schickel), Paul Newman, animation and cinematography. The taper paused the recorder at almost every commercial break, so the broadcast runs nearly commercial-free for about 5 hours 50 minutes. Two commercial breaks survived near 5:05 and 5:19 into the recording, and at 5:50 an ABC 7 'Next at 10 PM' promo runs over the telecast's end credits. The tape is blank after about 5:52.
